Meet this year's finalists!
Since graduating from Amarillo College in 1986 with an A.S. Degree in Theatre Arts, and West Texas A&M University in 1988 with a B.S. Degree in Radio, Television, and Film, and in 1990 with an M.A. Degree in Communications (Theatre Emphasis), Bradley Nies has been employed with Blinn College as Director and Professor of Theatre Arts/Communication Studies for the Brenham Campus. He has postgraduate studies in communications, directing, script analysis, and playwriting from Texas A&M University, WTAMU, and Texas Tech University. As a published playwright, he was a finalist for the 2017 Queensbury Theatre’s New Play Reading Series and the 2017 Theatre Victoria Annual Playwriting Competition. In addition, he was winner of the 2012 TETA Playwriting Contest for Texas Residents, and his play The Prisoners of Driscoll Street was produced as part of the Gallery Players Black Box New Play Festival in Brooklyn, New York. Currently, he has six plays published: The Tell-Tale Heart (Adaptation), Minor Inconveniences, Perfect Mother, The Boys from Houston Heights, Haunting the House, and Alcohol and Muscle.

Amanda Livengood:Volunteer/Actor/Director/Current Board member with TOTS since 2007. After many years of exploring various jobs for plays, she finally decided to see what it would be like to be the writer. This is Amanda's first one act play she has written! She is very excited to have made it this far in the New Works Contest!

Lori Coughlin (Playwright) is the Executive Director of Parker County Theatre Company and a Performing Arts Instructor for the Senior Education Program at Tarrant County College. A graduate of Texas Wesleyan University, Lori holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and has written over a dozen plays, including Dime Store Dinos, which will be presented September 28th-October 1st at Texas Wesleyan as part of the school's Playmarket. Her credits include Home on the Range: Tales and Tunes from the Old West (Playwright and Director/Parker County Theatre Company), It's a Wonderful Life the Radio Play (Director/Parker County Theatre Company), Spoon River Anthology (Playwright and Director/Parker County Theatre Company), The Marvelous Wonderettes (Director/The Fleetwood Project), 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche (Co-Director and Costume Designer/Theatre Wesleyan), tick, tick, Boom (Set Designer/The Fleetwood Project), It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play (Director/TCC South Campus) Poof! (Director/Theatre Wesleyan), Empty Nest (Natalie/Theatre Wesleyan) Shrek (Dragon, Mama Bear, Mama Ogre/TCC Northeast Playhouse), la Boheme (Chorister/Fort Worth Opera). Mike Byham is a “seasoned” playwright with many productions to his credit. He has recently returned to the theatre scene following a 20+ year hiatus (primarily spent as a soccer dad). Mike’s plays have won multiple awards including first place in the Little Theatre of Alexandria National One-Act Play contest, finalist in the Pittsburgh New Works, ThinkTank TYA Playwrights Festival, Old Opera House New Voices, and many semi-finalists including Garry Marshall Theatre, Southwest Theatre Production, and Market House Theatre, among others. Mike’s full-length comedy THE UP AND DOWN DETECTIVE AGENCY is available online via Stage-Write Plays publishing The Up and Down Detective Agency - Stage-Write Plays. Mike's play, THE FLAT EARTH, was the winner of Theatre Off The Square's New Works Contest 2022 and was produced on our stage. Mike works as an engineer for a major airline headquartered in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He and his wife Dawn are recent transplants to North Texas. Mike is a member of the Dramatists Guild. Greta Ode enjoys "tiny home living" in Weatherford, Tx. She is a freelance writer for Kind Over Matter, in addition to Ramble, Bramble. Her most recent writings include her "Stories from a Wanderer" series that details adventures around Texas. Greta is an educator, tutor, writer, editor, and proofreader. This is Theatre Off The Square's first time meeting with Greta, and we are excited for her play submission to have been shared with us. We are hoping for many more!
